Giorgos Kalogridis

Giorgos Kalogridis was born at Spili, Rethymno, in 1923. At the age of fourteen, he started playing the lyre. During the occupation, he lived at Spili and, a little later, he left for Athens. In this period, he recorded his first album. He recorded a total of twenty songs, some of which he had composed himself.

All recordings were made with the cooperation of two well-known and recognized lute players, the brothers Giannis and Vaggelis Markogiannakis. In 1966, Giorgos Kalogridis moved to New York, where he still lives.
